One morning, as I was photographing Delhi wake up, I asked a passerby where I could buy a glass of Chai tea. He waved at me to follow him. As we entered the narrow, maze-like alleys of the slums, I started to feel uneasy but decided to trust the smiling old man. He pushed open the wooden door and what I thought was going to be a tea stall ended up being his one bedroom shelter. His wife quickly made me a Chai and cookies despite my protests. I was really humbled that this family, which literally had so little, had invited me to their home. The next day I returned and brought them some Vietnamese coffee beans as a gift. They were so happy. By this time, the entire area had heard I was a doctor and before I knew it I was examining the locals and reviewing lab results!
