Recoleta Cemetery, established 1822. This is the cemetery where the wealthiest families of Argentina lay their loved ones to rest. The family crypts are often adorned with stained glass windows and can be looked into by passersby . The upkeep of the crypts is done by cemetery workers IF yearly fees are paid. Sadly- many families do not pay (often from neglect or the lineage dies) and the crypts slowly deteriorate….(eerily, bones are sometimes seen inside the disintegrating coffins).
